Sullivan is a professional jumper who broke the twenty-seven-year-old high school record set by Randy Jenkins during a championship organized by the NCAA. The 26 year-old athlete won his spot in the US Olympic team by securing second place in the trials by jumping 2.33 m in the air. Sullivan had his score equal to JuVaigh Harrison, but on countback, Harrison took first place.

Despite coming second, everyone had their hopes from Sullivan to bring the medal back home. Sadly, during the semi-final high jump games in the ongoing Olympics, he came in fifteenth place and lost his chance to compete in the finals.

Once high school was complete, he enrolled at the University of Tennessee in 2016 after receiving the WIlliam Pettway Jr. Athletic Scholarship.

In college, he chose sport management as his major and kept business as his minor. Just last year, he completed college and graduated.

Career

Sullivan officially started his career as a jumper in track and field from his college days, and ever since then, he has never looked back.

During his freshman year in college, he jumped over a distance of 2.15 m and broke the record set by Larry Clapp and Tony Heitzman.

It motivated him to work harder, which paid off as he won the Collegiate competition in 2017, which was his first.

He then set a new personal record of 2.20 m during the Tiger Paw Invitational. It made him the winner of the event and also the fifth all-time high jumper of the college. In the same year, he also won second place during the USC Open.  

He kept taking part in many more games and getting better and better. He then won first place in the Virginia challenge as well as in the Stanford Invitational.

Last year, outdoor games got canceled because of the pandemic, but Sullivan still took part in the indoor games organized by SEC and NCAA.

Even in 2024, he took part in the events organized by the NCAA. During one of its events, Sullivan broke the record set by Randy Jenkins.

After gathering successes in other games, he tried his luck in the Olympic trials and won a place in the Olympic team by securing the second position. Athletes including Grant Fisher and Woody Kincaid also won their place in the Olympic team.

He went to Tokyo and represented the USA in the Group B semi-final of the high jump held on the 30th of July. Unfortunately, he lost his chance to compete in the final game as he came in fifteenth place.
