McDaid started his career in the music industry through the band Vega4 as its singer and songwriter. The first single of the band Life is Beautiful was successful enough to make a place in the US Contemporary Radio Chart Top 40.
He worked with the band for two more years before signing with the Snow Patrol, another rock band, in 2009.
In Snow Patrol, he played the guitar and the piano. He even went on tours with his band. While he was traveling, he started working on developing a unique style in his songwriting.
