Katherine started working in the law sector after completing her studies.

She worked at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office for seven years before quitting in 2003.

After quitting, Katherine decided she did not want to work in a law firm. 

Instead, she wanted to do something for the neglected and abused kids.

So, she worked as a co-director of policy & outreach for a year and then joined the San Francisco Educational Fund as its policy director/director of Public Engagement.

Later, in 2007, she finally became the CEO of an organization that worked to rescue kids who have gone through abuse and negligence called Safe & Sound.

Since then, Katherine has worked with the origination and helped many unfortunate kids.

She announced that she would be stepping down from her position as President and CEO of Safe and Sound from February 1, 2023. She also announced she would work closely with the organization’s Board, partners, and team during the next eight months to find a replacement. Additionally, she committed to serving as a special projects advisor until April 2023.

In April 2023, Safe & Sound Community welcomed Dr. Pegah Faed as the new CEO of the organization.

Besides having a busy and successful organizational career, Katie also does a lot of volunteering work.

She has been a broad member and trustee of many establishments like The Aspen Institute, San Francisco University High School, San Francisco Day School, etc., that directly or indirectly with young people and kids.
