He is a political analyst who is best known for leading The Daily Beast in having 1.1 million readers per day. While still working for the website, he also accepted the offer from CNN to be its senior political analyst.

Avlon started his career by taking the job of speechwriter for former Mayor Rudolph Guiliani.
Guiliani was impressed by the skills of the young speechwriter and promoted him to work as the chief speechwriter and the deputy director of policy.
Avlon worked for the former mayor for four years before joining The New York Sun as its columnist and associate editor.
He worked for The New York Sun for four more years before working a year for Newsweek as a political editor.
After leaving The New York Sun, he immediately didn’t join Newsweek. Instead, he accepted the offer to join The Daily Beast just after one month of its establishment.
Avlon joined as a columnist but made his way to being the editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast.
