Robert James Longwell is a retired lawyer who worked for 41 years before retiring. He attended Ohio Northern University and was in the class of 1980.

Longwell attended the Harrisburg Academy to complete her high school (1994-1998).

She was interested in becoming a poet, thanks to the stacks of books in her parents’ home. She used to take part in every local writing contest and had won a few gold awards too.

After high school, she joined Kenyon College and political science captivated her more than writing. So, she earned a degree in political science in 2002.

She wrote her honors thesis on Relativism and Integration of American Liberal Art Education. And she got a job offer from Delaware with a $22,000 salary package. She was 22 then and moved to Delaware, right across Joe Biden’s office.

Career

Longwell started her career soon after graduating from college. During her early career days, she worked for a conservative group called the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. She worked for the Institute for three years before moving to Washington D.C.

While in Washington DC, she met Richard Berman, a Republican lobbyist and Public Relations expert, who gave her work in his firm, Berman and Company.

In the company, Longwell started as director of communications and slowly paved the way to becoming a partner in it.

She worked for the company for fourteen years before quitting to start her own company in 2019, which she called Longwell Partners. She is still running her company as its president and CEO.

Besides working for different firms and running her own company, Longwell became part of the Log Cabin Republicans. Here, she served as a member of the board of directors for more than eight years and as the national chairman of the board for more than two years before quitting.

She left the organization after it provided financial aid to former President Donald Trump for his 2016 election.

Longwell has been against Trump ever since he got power within the Republican Party. In 2018, she started an NGO called Defending Democracy Together with Bill Kristol.

Through the NGO, she collected testimonies from former supporters of Trump and used them to make his second presidential campaign in 2020 unsuccessful. The organization even spent around 35 million USD to halt the advancement of Trump in the election campaign.

With Kristol and conservative radio host Charlie Skype, she also started The Bulwark, where she brought the blend of traditional conservative beliefs with libertarians.

Besides this, Longwell is also the co-host of The Secret Podcast and The Next Level with Jonathan Last and Tim Miller.
