Education

Wilson went to the Academy of Allied Health & Science, a public high school in Neptune Township for her high school.

Once she graduated from high school in 2012, she initially planned to attend Florida State University in Tallahassee in Florida. 

But just before the start of her fall semester there, she changed her mind to go professional instead of attending college.

However, later she enrolled in Temple University to train with coach Derek Thompson, and she graduated from there in 2016.

Career

The 29 year-old star athlete started her career in the field since her high school days.

While still in high school, she competed in the World Youth Championship and became its champion. Just a year later, she took part in the World junior championship and won. She is the third-fastest high school runner of all time.

After completing high school, she started her professional career by skipping her enrollment at Florida State University.

It worked in her favor as she became the senior champion in the 800 m USA Indoor Track and field. It was just the start as she also became the champion in the 800 m outdoor game and Diamond League Herculis Monaco in the same year. During the Diamond League, Wilson set a world record timing of 1:57.67. 

From this point, her career kept getting better and better. She won several championships, like the Armory Invitationals. She won the Armory Invitational twice in 2015 and 2017. During her Armory Invitationals in 2017, she became the fourth-fastest mile runner of all time and second fastest American.

Wilson again ran in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in 2016 and came third even after running with only one shoe. During the last 200m of the race, one of her shoes came off, but she continued to run and came third.

The same year, she qualified for the 2016 Olympics. However, during finals, she came in twelfth position and did not win any medals.

After returning to the USA, she started training harder than before. Her hard work paid off as she broke the US record during Diamond League.

Besides competing in national championships, Wilson was also representing the USA in international games. She took part in the World Championships and won bronze in 2017 and 2019.

In 2019, Wilson set a new NACAC 800m and US Indoor Track and Field 800m record during the Millrose Games.

Wilson was training hard before the pandemic, and even during the pandemic, she did not rest. Instead, she trained so hard that she did not realize when 2020 turned into 2024.

After years of training and hard work, Wilson again took part in the US Olympic Trials and secured her place in the national team to represent the USA in the ongoing Olympics.

She flew with the team to Tokyo and had a great start. She came second in the Heat of 800m but could not maintain it during the semi-final. 

She came fourth in the semi-final and lost her chance to compete in the final game.
