The 30 year-old athlete was born in Roseville in Minnesota to his parents Michale and Charlotte.

Besides his parents, he also has two brothers, Evan and Nolan, in his family, both of whom are sportspeople like him.

While Evan went to the University of Minnesota and was part of its state champion 4x800m team, Nolan also played for the Minnesota track team.

Career

Ferlic started his career as a runner competing in the 5000m running during his first year of college.

However, his coach suggested he try for the steeplechase. In his first time competing in the steeplechase, he made it to the NCAA preliminary game. 

He won his first collegiate win, out of fifteen, during the same event.

After qualifying the preliminary level, he came in fourth place in Greensboro, North Carolina, and made his way to Eugene in Oregon to try for the Olympics team.

Ferlic didn’t make it in the team but fell in love with steeplechase. He then returned to Hayward every two years to win the All-American status but never made it to the Olympic team until 2021.

In 2021, he won the third palace during the trial games and represented the USA in Tokyo in the 2020 Olympics.

Despite not winning any medals, he returned home with an experience of a lifetime. 

Ferlic also started working as a volunteer assistant coach for his university to share the experience earned in Tokyo.

Besides being an Olympian and an assistant coach, Ferlic was also an athlete for Nike, but now he has joined hands with Adidas.
