Barbara Personal Life And Family

The 81 year-old receiver of the Bob Jones award was born in the USA as Barbara Jean Bash.

She has not shared much about her parents or siblings, so no one knows anything about them.

She came to the limelight because of the epic golf career of her husband, Jack Niklaus.

Nicklaus Barbara initially met her husband while she was still in college enrolled in pre-nursing. She then dated him for a few years before tying the knot with him.

The couple soon welcomed their kids. After having kids, Barabara gave up on her career as a nurse to look after their children, and her husband Jack started his professional career.

The couple always kept their family first and did everything to raise their kids in a healthy environment.

They were doing great as Jack became one of the greatest names in golf. He had 73 PGA tours to his name and 115 victories. He was even placed in the world golf hall of fame in 1974 for being one of the greatest professional golfers ever.

However, things were not always this easy for them. In 1996, they experienced a difficult situation after their eleven-month-old daughter had choking episodes and had problems breathing.

The couple took their daughter to the hospital immediately. In the hospital, they discovered that she had swallowed a blue crayon. The crayon had broken up and went to her lungs after breaking up. It then caused pneumonia.

Though their daughter recovered, they could never forget the incident. After this, they determined to help the children if they ever got the opportunity. And they did keep their word once Jack conquered the golf world.

The couple started working for pediatric health care services throughout the USA. They have raised more than 60 Million USD to this day. They have helped many children just by remembering the unforgettable event that they had to go through.

However, the incident with their daughter is not the only reason they have been actively aiding the children. The Nicklaus couple had faced another tragedy.

In 2005, they lost one of their grandsons to an accident in the hot tub. Initially, their grandson Jake was playing in the hot tub with his brother and nanny. Then his nanny took them out to get them changed. Somehow Jake had returned to the bathtub and had even climbed over the child barrier.

When the nanny found him missing, she searched for him, only to see him in the hot tub with his face down. Soon, she called for help, but it was too late.

This incident shook Barabara and her entire family. However, they got messages and phone calls from many people, who too lost their grandchildren.

Though the times were hard, Barbara and her family received support from everyone and overcame the grief.

Now, the couple has a great family of twenty-two grandchildren, whom they adore more than anything.

Many of their children and grandchildren have followed the footsteps of Jack and are involved in golf.

While some of the grandchildren took the legacy of Jack forward, others created a career of their own in some other field. One of their grandchildren is a doctor, while another is the tight-end NFL star, Nick O’Leary.

Despite their engagements, Barbara and Jack still visit their grandchildren during their game events and other functions.

To this day, Barabara and Jack have kept their family close. However, their love is not only limited to their family.

The couple has been working actively to uplift the community too. Both Jack and Barbara used their success and establishment to aid the youth and children for a better future.

Because of their dedication towards the community, when they contracted the COVID in the March of 2020, they got tons of messages from people.

At that time, Jack had a cough and sore throat while Barbara was asymptomatic. As soon as they got the result, they isolated themselves to prevent any spread.

The couple soon won over COVID and resumed their work. The couple is still actively working for the betterment of children and youth.
