Alan Eustace is a reputed American computer scientist who is best known for holding the world record for the highest-altitude free-fall jump from space. Eustace is also well known for being the former Senior Vice President of Engineering at Google until the year 2015.

Alan Eustace was born in 1957 (age 67 ) as Robert Alan Eustace in Orlando, Florida, United States. He grew up in Pine Hills, Florida with his parents; Robert H. Eustace who was a Martin Marietta engineer, and his mother Janice J. Jacoby.
Eustace completed his schooling at Maynard Evans High School in 1974. He then went on to receive a debate scholarship from Valencia College but got transferred to Florida Technological University to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After taking a computer class, Alan decided to switch the field and graduated in the year 1984 with a degree in computers.

Alan Eustace first worked for Silicon Solutions which was a startup in Silicon Valley and later joined Digital and Compaq as a computer engineer.
Then, he spent 15 years at the HP Western Research Laboratory, working on pocket computing, power and energy management, internet upgrade, and frequency and voltage scaling.
Alan then, he worked with Amitabh Srivastava on ATOM in the mid-1990s and in 1999 he was appointed as the head of the laboratory but he left the company to join Google. He worked in Google as Senior Vice President of Engineering. He then retired from Google on March 27, 2015.
Eustace then decided to pursue a stratosphere jump in 2011 and prepared for the project for the next three years. Alan broke Felix Baumgartner’s record for the highest jump from the stratosphere on October 24, 2014. Two episodes of the National Air and Space Museum’s television show ‘STEM in 30’ featured his world record jump.
